This is such a fun, spooky addition to any Halloween dessert.
Do you want the gross factor of a realistic fake blood that is totally edible and tasty too.
Or would you like a simple addition that can turn a basic dessert into a Halloween masterpiece.
This fake blood recipe combines 3 ingredients and takes only minutes to make.
We make this edible fake blood every year in our house at Halloween time. It has been used for zombie photo shoots, poured over a giant cake eyeball, drizzled on top of ice cream, french toast, cinnamon rolls and a bunch of other tasty treats. Make this for yourself and have fun making a bloody mess this Halloween.

Ingredients
Golden syrup – This is the main ingredient to make your fake blood. It gives the sauce its glossy appearance and its thick, drippy consistency. You can trade this out for maple syrup or a thinned corn syrup if that’s what you have on hand.
Chocolate sauce – You will want to use a simple chocolate sauce for this recipe. The hard set style chocolate sauces wont work well here. The chocolate sauce gives your fake blood a much more realistic look with an added opacity. It also makes the red color deeper and richer.
Red food coloring – I use liquid food coloring as it also thins out the sauce a little at the same time, giving it the perfect consistency.

How to serve your edible fake blood
There are so many fun ways to use this edible fake blood, here a just a few…
Use it as a topping for cinnamon rolls, donuts and other baked desserts
On top of plain, white cakes and cupcakes for an instant spooky boost.
Drizzled over freshly baked chocolate brownies with ice cream.
Use it on its own to accompany a vampire or zombie Halloween costume.
This is also great for playing pranks over April fools too!
